AN ENCOUNTER BETWEEN DOM PÉRIGNON & BASQUIAT

Dom Pérignon and Jean-Michel Basquiat are two legends separated by time and space, but each in their own way, they embodied the culture of their era and shaped that of future eras. With a special edition of the vintage 2015, Dom Pérignon pays tribute to an artist deeply rooted in his origins, who formed one of the most iconic and powerful artistic expressions of our time.

The resonance between Dom Pérignon and the universe of Jean-Michel Basquiat is symbolised by a graphic and conceptual tête-à-tête that superimposes the shield, emblem of the maison, and the three-branched crown, statement, and signature of the New York artist. Much more than two simple symbols, this visual creation embodies the meeting between two stories and two identities.

A TRIBUTE TO

  • Two Myths

An encounter between two icons in different period of time that have a lot in common. They revolutionized their own discipline and have created something truly unique and timeless with a high desirability today.

  • An Iterative Creative Process

Both Basquiat and Dom Pérignon were driven by intuition, putting assembling or making at the heart of the creative process to achieve singular creation. Basquiat's artistic process, involved layering various elements such as text, symbols and images. Similarly, Dom Pérignon's making process is a meticulous art of assembling- unique vintages, and blends- to achieve a harmonious and singular creation.

  • Art Elevation

Both myths have elevated their respective disciplines to the status of art, share a commitment to pushing creative boundaries despite facing constraints. For Dom Pérignon, this means always a vintage wine. An unyielding commitment to bear witness to the harvest of a single year, whatever the challenges, even going as far as not declaring a vintage. Basquiat would revisit and build upon his canvases, adding layers of meaning and nuance over time.

This collection embodies the encounter of Dom Pérignon and Basquiat universes, enhancing their most iconic symbol.

VINTAGE 2015 - NOTES

  • Nose

Initially somewhat somber with roasted notes and cacao powder.

The nose then gradually opens, like a floral bouquet. Linden leaves, Jasmine and finally peony, highlighting the spicy dimension of the wine, with anise and cardamom.

A vegetal and fruit freshness massages the overall sensation with chlorophyll, orange peel and green papaya.

  • Palate

The wine is broad and horizontal. It spreads across the palate, delicate then generous.

It caresses and stimulates at the same time, more on the sides of the tongue than the tip.

Flesh of fresh peach and nectarine envelop sculpted bitter notes of ctitrus and gentian.
